Crafts at Canyon Glen

Canyon Glen

On Saturday we gathered the family together and went up to Canyon Glen. It's a favorite spot for our family. I remember spending many Saturdays up there when I was little. I'm glad its still a great place to gather. Here are several pictures from our afternoon in the canyon.

My Parent's Yard

I love going to my parent's house and spending time in their beautiful backyard. They have done a great job of making it be a place to escape to nature in the middle of the town.

Ivy's quote of the day...

This morning, while I was working in the office, Ivy was rummaging through my "craft" stuff and found some gold glitter. She brought it over to me and said, "We need to give this to Grandma. It will make her feel better." I asked her how we should give it to her and she said, "On her head, that will make her feel better."

So next time we see Grandma, we'll be sprinkling her head with gold glitter- like fairy dust.

Happy Mother's Day to 2 Amazing Moms

Scott and I are very lucky. We both were raised by amazing women. Women who have helped us become the spouses and parents that we are. They are both wonderful grandmas and are very loved by their granddaughters. I hope that I will be able to be loved, adored and respected by my girls as much as I love, adore and respect them. Thanks for raising me and Scott.

Final pictures from the Evening at Thanksgiving Point

I wanted to get a picture with everyone but me. So, everyone piled on the scale.
The kids love getting ice cream at the parlor after we go to the farms. For 25 cents it's a nice ending for a fun evening.
Harrison found these great benches. He decided to pull some funny faces for Kat, rather than showing us his adorable smile.
Ivy was a bit more cooperative but she wouldn't sit up tall.

Jade is a serious climber. She kept getting climbing up the bar. She wanted to go higher but we wouldn't let her. Funny monkey.
To finish up the night, both Ivy and Harrison wanted to hang high too. They both did and did a great job and everyone had a very fun evening.

Holding Hands...

Over the years we have gotten multiple pictures of Grandpa walking away with his grand kids in tow. I'll have to ask Kat to do a blog of the pictures over the years, as she is the one that has taken most of them.

Once the group broke apart, the "littles" and the "bigs" continued holding hands. After Harrison let go of Ivy's hand there was a time that she stood there pouting. It was adorable, but the picture doesn't quite tell the story as well as I would like, so I didn't include it.

The horses and the kids

Each of the kids liked the horses and expressed it in their own way. We were so proud of all four of them. They each went on twice. We were lucky that a family that was there, was kind enough to give us two of their tickets. That made it possible for all four to ride twice.

Harrison loved riding the horses, but he remained calm and content.

Ivy giggled while she rode around on the horse. Multiple times she would say, "this is fun!"

Jade never held still the whole time she went around. She was turned around talking to Lukie, holding her arms out straight as if she were an acrobat, or she would pretend to lasso like a rodeo princess.

Lukie was adorable and realized that riding the horses really is fun. You could hear him saying, "this is fun this time".

The Laws of Thanksgiving Point

The kids have made a few rules at Thanksgiving Point that must be adhered to, or off to jail they go. Here they are breaking an important law, "Don't Break the Speed Limit when dancing".

As you can see, they broke the law. We'll have to work on following the laws of the land.

Our little reader...

Over the past school year, Jade has learned to read. She does such a great job. Grandpa Bob was absolutely amazed at how well she read to him. She even reads well enough that Ivy enjoys listening. Of course, if Jade is struggling on a word, Ivy will say, "sound it out". I'm so proud of how well Jade is doing. She's gets really excited when she realizes different things she can read.

Tepanyaki makes my girls smile...

Jade's favorite place to eat is Tepanyaki. She loves that they throw shrimp at her. Typically the cook does a fantastic job of hitting her right in the mouth. The one on Thursday night, didn't do such a smooth job. She got hit right below the eye! Mine, it went way over my head. (Which is fine by me, I don't really enjoy catching food in my mouth- okay, so maybe it is because I'm not good at it!)

Both girls love looking at the fish. I'm sure other patrons where rolling their eyes at us. But the fish keep them occupied and happy.

By the way, Ivy does a great job at Tepanyaki too. She loves the noodles and ate 1/3 of my order.

The Dodge Visit 2008

I took over 200 pictures yesterday while we were up at Grandpa Bob and Grandma Janet's house (in the mountains, if you ask Jade). The Dodge's are in town for several job interviews. It sure would be a blast if they get back to Utah. The kids had so much fun together.
