7 years ago today....

Scott and I formed a family. We were married on May 5th. We had a beautiful ceremony. The weather was absolutely perfect. There had been some strong rain storms (not snow- like this year) the week of our wedding. But that was perfect because it helped the flowers grow.

Scott and I had decided that we didn't want to do a really big wedding. So, we had no bridesmaids or groomsman- just adorable flower girls, and we kept the guest list small. We did have an open house a week later. It was beautiful that night too.

We opted not to do a tux on Scott and I wore a very simple gown. Simple, but beautiful. It was a Nicole Miller and I still look at it and say, "wow, that was just such a pretty wedding dress." (Shouldn't we all feel that way about our dresses?)

My mom did my flowers. I absolutely loved what she did. They were simple, elegant and perfect. Just what I always wanted. Actually, so was my cake. My 5th grade teacher did my cake. It was beautiful and tasted delicious. We froze the top layer and had intended on eating it on our anniversary- whatever the custom is. But, the freezer broke and the cake thawed. We didn't dare eat it after that.

My memories of the day were perfect. Not a thing went wrong. I was surrounded by people that love both of us and we formed a family that would be together forever. I am so grateful that Scott and I found each other. I'll always remember the first time I saw him- with his great big smile. I am so fortunate to have Scott as my companion for time and all eternity. I can't imagine spending it with anyone else. I guess that's why we are encouraged to marry our best friend.

This anniversary is a difficult one. Not because either of us forgot, or because we are so busy with other things that we just missed it. I had to travel for work. It is the Lenovo's America's Group Annual Kick Off. It is our biggest event of the year with Lenovo. Not one that I could miss. I would have loved to have Scott come with me, but it's just not the type of event that has much down time. So he would have been out here and I would be tied up at the booth or in meetings the whole time. Boring for him. So, here we are, married for 7 years and not getting to spend it together. It's actually not the first one that we haven't spent together. I guess not being big on sentimentality comes in handy every once in a while.

Either way, I'm very happy to be married to such a wonderful husband and father. I definitely miss him and wish I could be with him to celebrate this year. Maybe next year :)

Congratulations! It's true, we can't always spend anniversaries how we would prefer, but it doesn't detract from the significance of them.

I've had fun looking at all of your pictures -- your girls are absolutely adorable! I can't believe how grown up Jade is -- and she's still so blonde!

I look forward to keeping in touch better!
