Oh my goodness, can you believe the summer is over? Oh my goodness, can you believe Jade is in first grade? Oh my goodness, oh my goodness. At least that's what she said.
Monday morning, was Jade's first day of class. Her charter school started earlier than the school district. I hope that means we get a few extra days off during the school year. Before school it is a tradition to do a quick photo shoot. I know- tradition? she's only in the first grade. But, she insisted I get some pictures of her before school. Since I'm an obedient parent, I did exactly that. For part of it, she made some funny Jade faces, but for the most part, I got so cute little girl on the way to her first day of ALL DAY school. Can you believe she is gone almost as many hours as I am for work? She's there from 8-3. I was really surprised that she hasn't been exhausted every evening after school. Once she is in all of her dance and gymnastics, I'm sure she will collapse in her bed at the end of the day.
I picked her up from her first day of school. (Sadly, that isn't something I get to do very often- since I work). But I left work early on Monday to see how wonderful her first day was with her new class and her new teacher. (Who, by the way, was born in Germany and taught school for several years at the DOD schools overseas- I really like the experience she can bring to the classroom). Anyway, for her first day of school, I had the last picture made into a 16x20 poster (Costco has them for $6). I hung it from the window right by the drive way. She was so tickled when she got home and saw it and we left it up until Scott got home. Our cute little girl now has it hanging in her room on her closet. Next year she'll get a poster on her second day of second grade.
